Time flies….unless it’s standing still.
2 years ago, I started this site. I thought I would chronicle my thoughts as I shifted into a new position and season in my life. I had the best of intentions - I promise!
I moved to a new school district, took a new position, helped open a new school, trained all new staff, welcomed new families, learned the way of work with no training. I absolutely was exhausted, but I felt that I was accomplishing something important. I suppose I was beginning to feel fulfillment in my job. I had not felt that for a year. Actually, that is why I left my previous district. My path there had stopped and I was reaching out for something new. It was a whirlwind of activity for 6 months.
And then 2020 happened.
I will never how it all played out. We had been having several students,teachers and families getting sick and we thought it was just a bad case of the flu - seeing as how it was our first winter together. We left for Christmas break, hoping everyone would come back healthy. Probably just as every other school did. In January, our daily absences continued. Teachers started getting nervous as the national and local news began talking about this thing - Covid 19. I encouraged teachers to hold class outside as often as we could. We made it to March, held a fantastically fun field day, and closed the building for Spring Break.
Nothing has been the same since.
2 years ago, I started this site. I am finally in a place where I can get back to the work I started. I sometimes feel that time has stood still and all of the events of the past 2 years have not transpired. It seems unfathomable. But then I am reminded of the life altering pandemic we have been through - and are still trying to navigate. It is indeed very real and time rolls on.
Although my purpose has shifted slightly, I am still committed to sharing my stories and thoughts on education. I hope to create a space for others to share, as well. We have been through so much together in these 2 years.
